Written by British singer-songwriter Graham Nash, Our House was recorded in 1970 by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young on their album Deja Vu. It took Nash only about an hour to write the song. He was living with singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell at the time and wrote Our House after the two of them returned home from going out to eat breakfast and then visiting an antique store.

In a 2013 radio interview on National Public Radio, Nash explained the inspiration for the song:
